PLURAL NOUN FORM IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE


 
 
 

For making the nouns plural you need to learn several patterns different for each gender (masculine, feminine, neuter) according to which the plural nouns are formed. Let’s start with the masculine gender.

Й letter transforms into и.

Ь becomes и.

Now let’s talk about feminine gender patterns.

 

A sound turns into ы.

Some masculine nouns end with a sound as well so they follow this pattern. For example, Мужчинамужчины, Папапапы.

 

Я vowel changes into и.

 

Ия turns into ии.

 

Ь changes into и.
