Food is always my favorite topic, it’s something that unites all of us even if we don’t speak the same language. Well, we need to eat daily (Check article: How to describe you daily Routine in Russian) and if you are in Russia, you will have to learn some food vocabulary, though. So, in this article you can learn about different types of food in Russian, how to explain what you eat | drink, how to tell what food you like most. Well, food vocabulary in Russian

Types of food in Russian – Виды продуктов

First of all, let's have a look at different types of food. We can point out:

 - Ты ешь мясо? Do you eat meat?

- Нет, я вегетарианец. Я люблю животных. No, I’m a vegetarian. I like animals.

There are some dishes made from meat:

Котле́ты - Cutlets (it’s mixed with meat, eggs, onion, milk, bread and fried on a pan)

Шашлы́к - Barbecue

Стейк - Steak

Жа́реная ку́рица – Roasted chicken

5. How to say what you drink and eat in Russian :

The two useful verbs for you to learn are ЕСТЬ (to eat) и ПИТЬ (to drink) when talking about food. First of all, you’ll need their conjugation, in the table it’s presented in Present Tense.

- Что ты ешь на ужин? What do you eat for dinner?

- Я ем жареную курицу на ужин. I eat roasted chicken for dinner.

Another verb is ПИТЬ.

 Я пью молоко и ем йогурт каждое утро. I drink milk and eat a yoghurt every morning.
